After the wet bank holiday this week is flying by!
In fact, if like me you are at work, we do spend a lot of our life at work don’t we! So it stands to reason that I would like to be happy at work because if not it is a large chunk of my life each day that will be miserable.
But I know many folk who don’t work either because they are unwell, simply cant find work or who are retired. Its the same for them too – we all want to be happy.
Paul talks about this in Galatians ch 5 v 22 when he says:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”
Since love is a fruit, a product, of God’s Holy Spirit, could its companion, joy, be produced in us differently? Like love, joy is not the product of the natural mind but the product of the Holy Spirit of God.
If it is not a product of the natural mind, then chasing after it on our own and apart from the guidance of the Holy Spirit will produce only very limited and pale imitations of what God experiences by nature and what He greatly desires to be in us.
So I find at work as well as at play that if something is getting to me that is reducing my happiness in any way, I pray about it. As we thought on Sunday , there is a Biblical process which is 1)Problem ( we all get them), 2) Prayer ( take the problem to God and leave it there, 3) Power ( as a result of the action of Prayer, I have found the truth of the Bible that God will replace the space left by the worry of the problem with Peace and, yes you’ve got it, JOY resulting in a Powerful Christian experience).
Bye for now
