Morning and welcome again to Monday
Recently I was reflecting on the challenge of being honest at work.
I expect you know the sort of thing – being regularly 5 minutes late or leaving/stopping work 5 minutes early and keeping quiet as it “doesn’t matter”, finding the stationary items from work at home “now how did that get there, ah well it doesnt matter”, claiming credit for others work etc etc, I guess you get my drift.
LUKE 8 v 14 – 15 says ” The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”
Christian growth requires an honest and noble heart. We can so easily trick ourselves through rationalising our actions or convincing ourselves we are OK ( called “the justification thought process”), allowing ourselves to look after number 1 and to swamp or hide what we know is true and right. Sin can take over the mind with a cloud of alibis and cover-ups to hide from ourselves the wrongness of what we do. Sin promotes twisting and distorting of truth. We reason with ourselves, “This isn’t so bad”; “I’ll do it just one more time”; “I’m too weak. God will just have to take me as I am”; “God will just have to do it for me.” We have all reasoned ourselves into sin in this way I am sure. Well lets take a fresh look at ourselves as “a Christian at work” shall we?
Have a good week all

Great message. And one that should not be diluted, as the plumbline is the only one we measure ourselves against.
