Don’t be taken captive

Morning to you all.

It has been a while since my last post but may be this has been due to my being away travelling for work quite a bit of late.

However I have a post that has been in my mind for a few days for you and here it is…

In verse 8 of Colossians Ch 2, we read: See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than of Christ.

The word translated as “basic principles of the world” refers to elementary things. Compared to Christ, in terms of being, every other being is lesser because he or she is created. In terms of teaching, every other instruction is elementary, basic, even demonic. In terms of salvation, no other is able to save human beings.

As I press on as a Christian at work there is often discussion with work colleagues about faiths of all kinds, belief systems and even where we all came from. May be I get this because most people at work know of my faith? Anyway, something that is hard to do if one is on their own as a Christian at work is to stand firm on the truth of the Bible.

But do remember you are not on your own – I am there too! As are many millions. So press on is what I say and dont be taken captive!

have a good week.

Mark
