What a wet morning today. August certainly is having a bash at us in the UK. Those abroad may well smile as you bask in the sunshine. So staying chilled for us in Cornwall is not hard – but that’s not what I mean by my title! LOL
Over the last week I have been considering my efforts as a Christian at work and realised this weekend that I should chill out a bit and rely on God and not rely on myself or my own efforts. Yes, faith without works is dead I know, but there is a line between trying in my own strength and relying on Him.
Galatians 3 v 1 helps me with this. Here we read: ” O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?”
The word translated here “foolish” I have learned means unintelligent or unwise, and by implication tells me they are acting in the physical or of the world. This implication is very interesting when considered in light of what the letter to the Galatians is in the main about: The Galatians were trying to use the rites and ceremonies and physical requirements of Judaism to “work” their way into God’s Kingdom. Their emphasis was on what they were doing, rather than on God’s work in them. Their focus was on things dealing with the senses; things that would be, by definition, physical.
So God’s requirement of me is to be available for His will and then to relax in it. Trust Him for my salvation and then trust Him for my daily life.
Have a good week
