Trust the Bible (6)

Morning all

Yesterday we had a great time at church looking at Daniel Chapter 6. A book that clearly has a handle on how to live as a Christian in 2018 with this chapter being pivotal , relevant and inspiring.

All of the Bible is mind blowing actually and here today I want to just draw your attention to the fact that this ancient book described the planets water cycle even before we knew such a thing existed!!

In an Old Testament book, part of the cannon of scripture called Ecclesiastes and in chapter 1 we read ” All the rivers run into the sea yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come there they return again”

I read today that the Mississippi river dumps 420 billion gallons of water into the Gulf of Mexico! When you think about it there is the Thames, the Nile, the Amazon and many more pouring millions of billions of gallons of water into the sea day after day after day.

So where does all this water go? Why does the sea not overflow? The answer is in the hydraulic cycle ….. which the Bible introduced almost 3000 years ago!

King Solomon wrote ” if the clouds be full of rain they empty themselves upon the Earth ( Ecclesiastes chapter 11). Amos the prophet in his book in the Bible and chapter 9 says “He…. calls the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth” . Finally the chap called Job had a friend called Elihu and once more the Bible records his comment “Behold God is great… He draws up drops of water which distil as rain from mist which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man ( Job chapter 36.)

We only discovered the water cycle in the 17th century yet more than 2000 years before this wonderful and God inspired book, the Bible, explained it for us!

There are countless books we can read, but why not try the Bible – it will blow you away!

Have a good week, and if we do get a spot of rain, do remember this little blog as you go about your daily work.
