As we go about our daily work, often, at least if you are like me it is often!, there seems a sudden need to fire off an urgent prayer to God who by the way, is always there to listen.
However what I have recently realised is that Matthew 12 v 34 says this:
“Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”.
Apply this to our speech with God. What are our prayers to Him like? What comes pouring out of us is our heart—either that or God’s Word is not true. What we are is revealed to God by what we say to Him in our prayers. We cannot hide it; we cannot be two-faced with Him.
So I think I am going to spend some time thinking about how I talk with the Lord as he is my friend, Saviour, Brother and God but I don’t want to look on Him as a problem solver and “prezzy giver” do I !
So I guess a good starting place for us all is to go back to scripture and have a reminder of who God is and what prayer is.
Have a good week
