Hope

Morning everyone

Mark Chapter 4 from verse 35 says this and accounts the story of Jesus demonstrating his authority over nature…

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

3He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

What happens when you exchange your fear of the coronavirus for trust in Jesus Christ? The answer can be found in this story of Jesus crossing the Sea of Galilee with His disciples during a bad storm. The disciples were terrified until they turned to Jesus.

To help calm your anxiety about the coronavirus, let’s understand firstly that this fear has infected everyone. … but the Bible gives us real assurance about how fear can be overcome.

Faith in Jesus will bring calm because this faith is grounded on certainty, and the certainty is that this life is but a blip in the scheme of eternity, an eternity that we will all live in – which is forever. As a Christian according to the Bible, this is something to be excited about, really excited!

It is in this confidence for this eternity that we have peace having faith in Jesus Christ .

Notice the cry of the chaps in the boat… “don’t you care?” they shouted. We often think of these men poorly but actually at least they went to the right person and didn’t try to sort things out for themselves!

The storm was something that they had absolutely no control over and it was about to drown them. Covid 19 feels the same but Jesus is not panicking today either and in fact as the raging torrent of fear grows in the heart of a person, Jesus can instantly bring calm. If we ask Him, He brings forgiveness, followed by peace followed by confidence that as a Christian we have eternal life.

This story shows us.. Quail, Christ, Calm in that order.

Take care and stay focused on Jesus.

Mark
